THE ELDER SCROLLS 6 NEW UPDATE (2024)

The Elder Scrolls VI (working title) is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It will be the sixth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following 2011’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The game is scheduled to be released for Windows and Xbox consoles.

The project is led by game director Todd Howard, reprising his duties from previous games in the series, as well as other games developed by Bethesda Game Studios. The Elder Scrolls VI will be the second game developed on the studio’s in-house engine, Creation Engine 2, following Starfield (2023). The game entered pre-production by 2018, formally being announced during Bethesda’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 conference. The game entered active production in 2023 following Starfield‘s completion and launch.

The waiting doesn’t get any easier, does it? If you’re a fan of Bethesda, chances are you’re desperate to know when you might be able to get your hands on The Elder Scrolls VI. Officially, of course, there is no answer, but it’s hard to speculate over too. While starfiled may now be out in the world, it remains a key focus at Bethesda. Yesterday’s Xbox podcast confirmed it’s not releasing on  playstation  5, but we are still waiting on the Shattered Space expansion which is set to launch on XBOX and PC later this year. Developers are also working on several community requested features including the addition of city maps. This means that while work has begun on The Elder Scrolls VII, it’s not exactly all hands on deck just yet.

The main problem with Starfield is the inhumane amount of procedural generation that destroyed any excitement when it came to exploration,” explained Nachooolo. “Unless they do another Daggerfall (which might happen), The Elder Scrolls VI’s map will be limited in size (compared with Starfield at least) and, as such, have way less procedural generation and more handcrafted locations (at least proportion-wise).”

Redditor Nachooolo does make some very valid points that assuming The Elder Scrolls VI will have less procedural generation and a smaller map, as with Skyrim, it should make for a more controlled and hopefully better RPG experience. I believe that procedural generation has its place, but the caveat is that it will lose a sense of identity in comparison to a world or individual locations in a map being hand-crafted by a developeR
